    Dr. Reza Ng Ching Soong who hails from Petaling Jaya, Selangor, received his education in medicine from Belgium. Upon completing his tertiary education, Dr. Reza pursued his medical degree in Belgium and came back to Malaysia 18 years later with a specialist degree in Orthopaedics. After 12 months of language classes, Dr. Reza is a fluent speaker of the Dutch language, which is a requirement for foreign students in Belgium. He later received his Bachelor of Medical Science (BMedSc) in 1993 from the Ghent State University. Following that, Dr. Reza moved to Brussels and to pursue his Medical Degree (MD) at the Free University of Brussels which he then graduated with distinction.

    Dr. Reza was offered a place to pursue a degree in Orthopaedic Surgery in Free University Brussels Hospital given his excellent academic results. During his Orthopaedic training he was assigned to different peripheral hospitals where he gained vast experience in Orthopaedic surgery. Among the hospitals were Brugmann Paediatric Hospital, the Burn Unit at the Military Hospital and Aalst State Hospital. Between his demanding working hours Dr. Reza devoted some of his time to attend French language lessons. In 2003 Dr. Reza graduated as an Orthopaedic Surgeon and is registered to the Belgian National Institute for Health and Invalidity.

    Dr. Reza’s pursuit for education continued when he went on to sub-specialize in shoulder and knee surgery at Onze Lieve Vrouw Hospital in Deurne, Antwerpen under the tutelage of Dr. Geert De Clercq for 2 years. At the same time, he was given the opportunity to work under Professor Marc Martens who is a world renowned Knee surgeon, especially in Europe. During an attachment programme, Dr. Reza spent 6 months with Dr. Van Melkebeek (Senior Consultant Hip Surgeon in OLVM hospital) to specialise in Hip Arthroplasty and Arthroscopy. He also spent time with Dr. Peter Campbell in Perth to learn more about Shoulder Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty.

    Dr. Reza returned to Malaysia in 2006 as an Orthopaedic Surgeon at Sungai Buloh Hospital until early 2010. During his tenure at Sungai Buloh Hospital, he headed the Sports Injury Unit and was also appointed as a National Trainer for Sports Injury Fellowship Programme by Ministry of Health. He is currently practising full time in Kuala Lumpur Sports Medicine Centre.

    Dr. Reza is also active in clinical research and has several international publications. Whenever he has the opportunity, he would participate at local and international meetings. Dr. Reza is affiliated to Belgian Orthopaedic Association, Malaysian Orthopaedic Association, AO Alumni, Belgian Student Alumni and Academy of Medicine Malaysia.
