Financial regulations

Deposit (Self Pay)
Deposit can be in the form of Bank Draft, Cash or Credit Card (VISA, Master & Diners Club only) except personal cheques. The amount of deposit varies depending on the type of surgery. Once the surgery is confirmed, the Consultant Surgeon will advise the patient of the estimated cost of surgery. Should there be any excess deposit, it will be refunded via cheque within 14 working days after discharge.

Guarantee Letters
We accept Guarantee Letters (GL) from corporate / insurance companies that have established credit facilities with KLSMC.

For Medical Insurance Health Card, to ensure prompt processing of the Guarantee Letter, we would encourage patients to do a pre-registration at the Admission Office once the surgery is confirmed. We will then assist the patient in obtaining a Guarantee Letter from their insurance company. However, the final decision of whether to accept or reject the claim for cashless admission will be made by the insurance company. In the event of rejection, the admission will be treated as self- paying, which means a full settlement of the hospital bill is required. For GLs issued by the patient’s employer (company), a deposit is required from the patient if they are unable to produce a valid GL at the time of admission.

Patients are required to pay any excess charges i.e. personal expenses or non-covered items as stated in the Guarantee Letter or insurance policy, upon discharge.

Discharge Guide
Our discharge time is at 1200 hours. An additional charge of 50% from the room charges will be levied on the patient for discharges after 1200 hours and for discharges after 1700 hours, they will be charged a full day room charges. Should the patient want to be discharged over the weekend or on a public holiday, bills will be prepared a day earlier for settlement.
