X-Ray Imaging Services

Introduction

Digital Radiography (DR) provides high-resolution images at low radiation doses. In spite of newer technologies, radiographs remain the cornerstone of musculoskeletal imaging.

What to Expect with X-Ray Services

Before Your X-Ray Examination

  • Preparation: Most X-ray examinations require no special preparation. However, you may be asked to change into a hospital gown to prevent any metal objects in your clothing from affecting the images.
  • Jewelry and Metal Objects: You will need to remove jewelry, eyeglasses, and any metal items from the area being examined.
  • Pregnancy Considerations: Always inform our staff if you are pregnant or suspect you might be pregnant, as special precautions may be necessary.

During Your X-Ray Examination

  • Positioning: Our radiographer will position you on the examination table or standing against a specialized plate. You may be asked to hold your breath briefly to reduce movement blur.
  • Multiple Views: Several images may be taken from different angles to provide detailed views of the targeted area.
  • Duration: A standard X-ray examination typically takes less than 5 minutes to complete, making it one of the quickest imaging procedures available.

After Your X-Ray Examination

  • Immediate Activities: You can resume normal activities immediately after your X-ray.
  • Results: Our radiologists will interpret your images, and a detailed report will be sent to your referring doctor, typically on the same day.

Safety Information

While X-ray examinations do use radiation, we prioritize your safety by:
  • Minimizing Exposure: Our modern equipment uses the lowest possible radiation dose to achieve diagnostic-quality images.
  • Targeted Imaging: We carefully focus the X-ray beam only on the area that needs examination.
  • Protective Shielding: Whenever indicated, lead aprons and shields will be provided to protect sensitive body parts not being imaged.
  • Strict Protocols: Our technologists follow established safety guidelines for each procedure.
  • Regular Equipment Maintenance: All machines undergo routine testing and calibration to ensure optimal performance and safety.

FAQ

The cost of X-ray services in Malaysia typically ranges from RM80-RM250, depending on the body part examined.

X-ray examinations are completely painless and non-invasive. The procedure simply requires you to remain still in a specific position for a few seconds while images are taken. Some positions might be slightly uncomfortable for patients with mobility issues or pain, but our experienced staff will ensure the whole process will make the process as comfortable as possible and can adapt positioning for your comfort.

In most cases, the X-ray images are reviewed immediately by our radiologists, and a detailed report is sent to your referring physician. Your doctor will discuss the result with you.

The radiation dose from standard X-ray examinations is very low and considered safe for most patients. A typical chest X-ray exposes you to about the same amount of radiation you naturally receive from your environment over 10 days.

Our advanced digital systems further reduce radiation exposure by 30-50% compared to older technologies. The medical benefits of necessary X-rays examinations far outweigh the minimal risks involved.

For standard X-ray examinations, there are no food or drink restrictions. You can eat and drink normally before and after the procedure.

If your specific examination requires any dietary restrictions, our staff will provide clear instructions when you book your appointment.
